What I really want to do is clean the exterior windows of our house. It has not been done since we moved in two years ago. And I would guess it's been a few years before that. But . . . it's NOT the time of year to do that. Instead it's the time of year to clean your gutters. By now most of the leaves should have fallen off the trees around your house so get those gutters cleaned out. Make it a two for one job. Take the Christmas lights down and clean out the gutters at the same time! Once the gutters are completely cleaned out. Get a hose up there, turn it on and let it run for a bit. Walk around under your gutters to check for any leaks, make sure there aren't any clogs and to clean out the last itty bitty particles in your gutters. MAKE SURE YOU GUTTERS ARE COMPLETELY CLEANED OUT BEFORE YOU DO THIS STEP! If you don't you will send all the leaves and gunk to get clogged in some hard to reach spot in your gutter. Not good!
The last thing you can do while you are up there is clean the exterior face of your gutter. Yep, this is really going above and beyond the call of duty. But, step outside and take a look at your gutter. Unless you have recently had your house painted or your gutters are a dark color they are probably covered with dirt. So just take some soapy water and wipe them off with a sponge. Trust me you will be amazed, it's like a mini face lift for your house.
P.S. If you have someone else help you with your xmas lights or gutter cleaning, have them clean the exterior face of the gutter for you.
Happy Monday everyone.
