cleaning . . . your dishwasher

This little job is quick and simple and NEEDS to be done!  Give your dishwasher some tlc!
1.  Grab an old rag, spray it down with your cleaning agent and scrub, scrub, scrub the door jam of your dishwasher.  Make sure you get the hinges and the opening of the dishwasher jam too.

2. Take the bottom rack out and check the drain for any loose articles that have fallen down there.  They have the potential to destroy your machine, get them outta there!

3.  Now fill a pyrex measuring cup with hot, hot water and some vinegar.  Place it on the top rack of your dishwasher and run the washer.  This will loosen up all the grime in your dishwasher.

4.  Dump a little less than half a box of baking soda around the bottom of your dishwasher and run it again.

This does NOT need to be done all in one sitting.  So take it in stride.  On your way out the door this morning leave all your dirty dishes in the sink and run the cup of vinegar while you are out.  When you get home run the baking soda through the dishwasher cycle.  And tonight when you load all the dishes back in the washer from today's meals, clean the hinges.  It's done!

As you know I DID NOT GET MY MEAL PLAN OUT TO YOU YESTERDAY!  Oh and it's a good one.  When I do get it out you will read at the top why I didn't get it out, excuses, excuses, excuses!  Anyway, instead of cooking recipes so I could shop primarily at Trader Joe's I decided cook from this AMAZING cookbook called River Cottage Veg by, Hugh Fearnley-Whittingstall.  I got this cookbook as a gift from my same NYC friend, and it's signed too!  The recipes do look AMAZING.  For example today I am roasting 16 tomatoes in the oven for about an hour with garlic, thyme, salt and pepper to make a roasted tomato sauce for a risotto I am cooking tonight.  YUM!

Now quit reading my blog and go clean your dishwashers!  XO
